Help reef octopus 110sss

I recently purchased a 110sss skimmer. I have put it in the exact water it needs in my sump but every time I turn it on no matter how I adjust the pipe it overflows right away. I've been working at it for a week and I can't figure it out . Any help or suggestions would be great I'll try anything at this point.

Try running it in a bucket with ro and vinegar. If it wants to over flow let it. Then try doing a water change and running it in a bucket of old salt water
