I left my reef tank yesterday with a ph around 8.3 according to my Seneye. I usually keep my house around 70, but bumped it up to 74 since we would not be home. Today my ph is showing 8.57 and seems to be climbing (according to Seneye). I have checked my 2 gyres, return pump and skimmer and everything is working normally. Today is Friday and I will be returning home on Sunday. The Seneye also shows the tank temp up to 80.2.
I have lowered the thermostat (via an app) so the house temperature is back down to 70.
Do I need to be concerned? I do have a tank sitter that will be coming tomorrow to feed the fish. Should I have her put some vinegar into the tank to lower the ph?

5.57…..that can’t be correct.
If your flow is flowing, I would not trust that number at all.
Do nothing. Have the sitter open a window for an hour if it makes you feel better until you get home.
I have no concern with 81-82 for temp periods.

Sorry. I meant 8.57. I have edited the post to reflect this. I looked at the ph history and it was 8.30 this morning at 8:30 and has been climbing all day.

Then no issue IMM, PH readings are easily skewed.
Enjoy your vacation
80.2, if that’s actual, who knows, no concern here either unless it continues to rise.

Thanks all. That gives me peace of mind. I appreciate the quick response.

Sometimes the monitors can just be annoying.
Sometimes we believe they are accurate, sometimes yes, sometimes no.
The water detector gave me heart failure three times in 4 days, and never a drop……now….just unplugged it an put in a camera.

One of the biggest things that depress ph is from our breathing and activities. The fact that the house is now empty you can expect a rise in pH. When you get home your ph should return to normal and you can also perform Randy's Ph aeration test to confirm whether co2 in the home is what is driving ph down.
