Hi guys, I wanted to ask your help to find their views on the lights AquaIllumination Prime AI module.

I want to buy 3 modules for my system of 59 "x 25" x 24 ". You think will be enough or will stay short to reach the light.

What can you tell me about them?

Regards

What are you trying to keep with them? I have 2 over a 20 gallon and I like them. Easy to control and kept soft corals and lps fine. I was about to test them with some sps when my tank started leaking and I had to start over, so I don't know how they handle sps. Also my tank is only 12" deep so a lot less light is needed for me.

Personally I like them. I am planning on using 2 over my 56 which is 24 inches deep. Obviously you wont be keeping SPS at the bottom....but honestly it is going to depend on what you house. Most are probably going to point you towards the Twenty Six or Fifty Tw0 for the size tank you have. But.....I am going to try the 2 primes on mine. I do however have a 150w MH in the canopy that may be thrown into the schedule. I was intending on it initially but have had 2 friends tell me the prime will suffice....in addition to AI support who is also confident the Prime will suffice.

I have sps, lps, soft.

For example, montipora capricornis, acroporas, red digitata, zoas, hammer, frog, torch, kenya tree, GSP, ricordeas, etc.

In your case I think rather you working with these lights to half power. that would be excellent.

In my case corals they are arranged according to the needs of light, requiring more are up and down so slowly.

In short, viewing on experiences with these modules, consider that if I am good with 3 modules for my tank.

50% over a 24 inch deep tank? I am at 40% right now on a 10 inch deep tank

I have 2 Primes over my 55. It is 36" long x 15 wide x 24" tall. They seem plenty bright for the depth. I have them mounted in a canopy 4" above the water line. I like the fact you can space them out. In your tank I would worry about the 25" width front to back. The Prime spread is about 18" at 24" tall so you'll have light fall off at the edges. Your tank length with 3 Primes also maxes out their spread. I solve the problem by spacing them 14" apart and angling them slightly outward. I also supplement them with 2 T5's. I have only had them for 2 weeks so the jury is still out on coral growth. I do like the color controllability. My wireless connection has been a little flaky but it works.

I just broke down and while spinning up my 56g I decided to stick with my MH in play. So I now will be running 2 AI Primes 20k at 60% in addition to my 150w MH.

I have 2 on a 30lx18hx12w I love them still trying to tune them in 100% right now

Slight thread derail....

Those of you with the Director, is it worth the extra $$? Do you find all the functions useful or just a gimmick that you play with once, then forget about?

I'm seriously considering two Hydra 26s for my 75 build. The alternative is a 100w LED fixture from Oceans By Design in Seattle with just the basic Chinese LED controller.
