Hey everyone. New to this forum... it’s Xmas day so merry Christmas one and all!!
My local fish shop is understandably closed for today and tomorrow but we woke up today to (a lot of presents) but unfortunately also our emporer, naso tang and yellow eye tang look like they have something wrong.
They did have some minor ich but that was cured a week or so ago. This looks a lot different... the naso tang has brown specs and the others have some white specs that are more spread out / splodges of some sort.
Any idea?
Help much appreciated.
George

Just realised the pictures are awful! It’s so hard to get a photo as this disease is only just starting off. Will try to get better ones

post few more photos if you can, that can help someone else to identify the issues you have.

I'll ask if #reefsqaud @ReefSquad can step in and to help for this.

And merry Christmas everyone and you :)

@850reef
Do you have recent water chemistry checks and can you post that one (since the last week or so)? If you don't have something recent (during and after the "minur ich") can you get now to report you water specs Please, as most of the time the fish are vulnerable just because of the water parameters.
Also what food you feed them with?
Do you add recently new fish in the tank, how long ago is the setup done, do you have idea what cause the ich which you had to treat week ago and what medicine you use for it? Also do you make water change after this treatment?

Could be scars from ich(crypto). When my tangs recovered from crypto it left brown, pin sized scars. If they’re eating I wouldn’t be too worried. Make sure the tangs are getting their algaes. I have 0 experience with angels, but I know many require sponge in their diets, might be beneficial to feed sponge from your sump if you’re able. Good luck!

Thank you folks! Didn’t expect such fast reply’s today. I am with family so the tank is on its own for now.

will update this thread tomorrow with better pics and water parameters.

cheers!

Just have on mind to read about the Ich how it spread, what is the incubation period , and from there the quarantine period you have to treat your fish, or it will come back. (you can read that from the link above).
Enjoy the Christmas days with your family, here is TR4, so we aren't allowed to go anywhere :( or we can see the forces coming and put us in a trouble you know (SouthEast here)

Hi folks!
So I think it’s just a virus that the emporer and tangs have got as nothing else has any sign of it and also the emperor and tangs have improved significantly already.
Everyone is feeding and behaving normally so will closely monitor it! Thanks for your reply’s

Looks like it’s marine velvet to me. I am dosing polyplabmedic and today is the first day of treatment.
Yellow eye tang is the worst followed by emperor. The clowns are totally fine, the lion fish has hazey eyes, my wrasse is totally fine and the other tangs are ever so slightly affected.

in my photos above my naso tang had dark spots. Those have totally gone which is nice!

what do you guys think I should do other than continue my treatment?
