so i got a bleeding apple scoly on friday then 1 day after it started receding.. i've googled around but couldnt find a good explination to why my bess guess its thats its my flow. so i put it into a cup and placed it in the corner of the tank but its still receding.. it wont eat i really dont want to loose it..

salinity, ph, alk all withing normal parms..

i've read ppl stating to pit it on the sand bed some say take it off the sand bed.. a bunch of contradicting information

When my scoly was dieing I put it in the shade with little flow and it came back but I feel like I got lucky. Good luck and keep us posted.

^^
did it eat during this?

What type of lighting are you using? I had to put mine completely underneath an overhang to prevent them from receding. IME, they don't do well under very intense lighting.

Put mine in low flow low light and its 90% healed. It will eat if I give it food bit not letting out its feeders.

got 2 MH and 2 CF lamps
it in a kinda low light area in the corner but i'll move it under a ledge next to my NPS...

Would dipping in coral revive help?

If its receding badly, I'd be worried about dipping because it might stress it more. I'd shoot for low light & low flow and play the waiting game with fingers crossed

yeah thats what i'm doing.. i got it in a takeout soup container with some holes cut in the top so my cleaner shrimp wont pick on it under a shelf in my aquarium..

last night it looked like either brown jelly or flesh stating to grow back..

What's your alk at? Unstable levels of alk usually contribute to majority of RTN or STN to SPS and LPS.

Low light and low flow. Then just let it be! Don't dip will. Just stress it more. If you want to try and feed it, new life spectrum has some small fish pellets that are tiny and all my lps love it.

Best you can do is leave it in a low flow area and hope for the best.
My guess is the mouth is opened beyond normal. So it's it's a 50/50 even if it recovers, it'll be a really long time before it can grow over it's dead portion.

If you can, feed some oyster feast or some food with garlic in it will work. This will help the scoly respond to the scent and then you can try to land some mysis in the mouth.

yeah mouth was wide open here's a pic yesturday i took the bowl out of the tank to spot feed it some mysis..

it looks like coralline algae infected the skeleton in the same manner as Ostreobium .... maybe just bad luck ?

actually that the color of the skeleton.. i got it on friday and it was full and puffy no exposed skeleton
