Help setting up a 10 gallon tank

I have an aqueon 10 gallon led tank kit laying around at home that I would like to make a saltwater tank. I would like something simple for a pair of clownfish and maybe eventually some coral.

Can I use the hang on back filter and 50w heater it came with or do I need to upgrade? I dont have room for a sump so was hoping a hang on back would work. How about the led lights are they ok while I'm just starting with clowns? Eventually need to upgrade when I get into corals right? What other equipment would you suggest? A power head?

Hi @Duncan1575 , and welcome to R2R!

Yes, a HOB filter system will work for a saltwater aquarium, especially a nano, like your 10 gallon. The heater should suffice as well.
The LED light with your system will work with the fish, but I would upgrade before adding coral.

Do some research, and tank your time.

One piece of equipment suggestion from me would be to invest in a Auto-Top Off (ATO) unit. It will help maintain the salinity level in your tank, and that is more important the smaller the system is.

Also, yes, I would look to add a power head to your system. This will help with nutrient flow through your tank, as well as gas exchange at the water surface.
