Ok, so o have this 7 gal Pico tank that we drilled the bottom of to make our lamp tank a few years ago. Since then, we moved from Tx to Tn and the plumbing got moved and it started to leak. We took the tank apart and haven't messed with it since. Now, I want to use a piece of class and re seal it so it no longer has the hole on the bottom.

I say the new glass piece need to go in side the tank and my husband says it needs to go on the outside. I'll also add that the tank is timeless.

So who's right? Him or Me? Why?

His concern is that if something hits the glass where the hole is then it will break. The tank is rimless so the tank glass sits directly on whatever surface we put it on. I'm not going barebottom so I don't see the issue the way he does.

Why not both? Protection from both sides and both of you are happy!

That seems a bit excessive, if we put one on the bottom, why put one on the inside. I'm against it on the outside because I think it will look weird.

This is the tank we have

In either case, I wouldn't use glass thinner than 3/16. 1/4 in would be even better

Inside.

Outside, the pressure is going to be pressing AGAINST the seal. Inside, the pressure is going to be pressing INTO the seal.

I'm not sure that a piece of 1/4" glass and a tube of silicone is going to cost less than just replacing a 7 gallon cube :)
