Hey nem lovers! I just bought a new RBTA from a hobbyist who is tearing his tank down. New baby and life got in the way. Anyway his tank has been neglected for some time so I wasn't sure what I should do to help the nem adjust to its new conditions. Will he automatically love better water conditions? Should I feed him right away and if so how much? He's not looking too bad this morning but my lights are not on yet. I have a 4-5 year old tomato clown that I raised that I am hoping will host the new nem. He's hosting my wellso brain right now and has never had a real nem of his own, (his parents would not share their nem). It might good if he doesn't host right away so as to not overly stress the nem, right? Any info would be great, thanks.

Here's a pic of the new nem. Also wondering, if my clownfish isn't interested in the RBTA, will a cleaner shrimp keep him groomed and dead tissue cleaned off. I saw the cleaner on the nem but it might have been stealing food from the nem.

From the pix, looks to be in good shape. Just have the usual good water quality and the lights for it.

Shortly after I posted my clownfish buddied up to him. This morning he is still in the same spot and sharing it with Baby, the clown. Its looking promising. I did cover my koralia PH in case he motored around that area for his protection.

What lights was it under?
What lights do you have?

How big is the anemone?
How big is the clown?

The nem was under a 60" 4 bulb T5 fixture and now its under a 30" 4 bulb T5 fixture. My bulbs are only a few months old though and the other tank had old bulbs, (12 months or more). The nem is probably about 5-6" diameter and the clown is 4-5 years old but only about 1 and 3/4". I raised it from a mated pair I used to have but its never had a nem of its own. Baby's parents would not share their nem so Baby has hosted hammer corals, to be protected from his parents until I sold them and their nem. Then he hosted my wellso brain. Needless to say I am happy about this. The nem was hosted by clowns in his former tank too.
