So I have a new Lifegard Pro-Max 55watt UV going to add to new 210g tank setting up.
The tank has 3 holes drilled in bottom of tank for closed loop. (2j 1” and (1) 1 1/4” bulkheads. I was going to gravity feed from the 1 1/4” into the inlet of the UV. Then use outlet to return water to the (2) 1”.

So questions are where should I install my DC pump for return since need push water up back into tank. Before inlet to UV or after? My thought was after. Also I have 1” Neptune flow sensor would like to use so can dial in flow. Which now brings next question. Should I use ball valve anywhere in this to help dial it or so just use DC control on pump?

Please looking for advise soon. Need get on this to replace kids leaking reef tank.

if you're going to plumb the uv so that's its gravity feed you can add a gate valve between the tank and the UV to control the flow. I would not adjust your DC controllable pump to adjust the flow rate going into your UV

I was thinking this might be best option. I know the 1 1/4" should provide more than enough flow.

Where should I put the flow sensor? Before or after UV?

I am also in the same shoe. can you explain why not dial down DC pump? that's what I am planning to...

The flow rate required for a UV is a lot lower that what the rest of your tank requires. You might need 250g per hr for the UV which might be way to low for you tank. So with a gaye valve or by using a dedicated pump you can control the flow rate just for the UV and not affect the flow rate for the rest of the tank.
