Help! Skimmer not producing enough bubbles and not reaching cup

My Aquamaxx HOB 1.5 was running fine until recently it's not producing enough bubbles to reach the cup. I tried messing around with the yellow air tube. It worked for a few hours then back to being useless again. What do I do? The skimmer is one year old and I already cleaned it before trying by the way.

Try removing and cleaning the pump with muriatic acid.

Also make sure the water level is not decreasing as it will affect the skimmer. They are great skimmers that pull a lot of crud for being such a small form factor, but they do tend to be finicky.
