Help, Skimmer went crazy

I’ve had my skimz do that a few times, normally right after I use epoxy to place a frag. It’s amazing what a pea size bit will do. I just replace the amount removed with fresh salt water. All good

I know this is late and you prolly got it under control. I just wanted to give my experience. Anytime something gets in my tank that is not supposed to be there my skimmer goes crazy like this. The only way it calms down is to just let it run. I drove myself CRAZY trying to fix it.

My culprit was... wait for it... my hands. I'm a hydraulic technician and no matter how well I clean and wash my hands they are never clean enough to put in my tank. I had gotten some cleaner shrimp and really enjoyed playing with them. To my dismay I would start hearing the skimmer overflow. It took a minute to put 2 and 2 together but it finally clicked. Hope this helps

Had this same problem with my Reef Octo elite 150. Wouldn’t stop overflowing no matter what. Final solution was to run the cup overflow into a 5 gallon bucket, cranked it up and let it do it’s thing. I have a 140g so after about 10 gallons of “overflow” it went back to normal. No idea what caused it it that was the solution. Pain the the rear for sure but it worked.

Letting it overflow back into your tank is just keeping whatever is in the water, in the water.
