I have a long tentacle anemone and noticed this morning my starfish is about half way in the anemone's mouth....I tried to get it out but the anemone just tightened it's grip...not sure exactly what type of star fish I have and what if any issues this will cause

Sorry to say but the starfish is a goner at this point. Trying to remove it will harm the nem more than just letting nature take its course

I figured...I just want to make the starfish won't harm the nem...the anemone usually swallows things up whole and quickly....looks like the starfish is putting up a fight

It's Not reef safe And Take Him out Whenever my Anenome tryed to eat something I pull it out

i had that same starfish in past and i can tell you it is not reef safe....double check and make sure its not the other way around and that it's trying to attack you nem. from the pix it looks like a goner but you may want to consider removing him if he pops out

the one i had killed corals and urchins http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=497+528+1748&pcatid=1748
Thanks for the info. I assumed it was reef safe because the lfs I got it from had it in a tank with some of their pricey corals. Tried to remove it from the nem but it closed up more around it

the same happened to me, my lfs gave em to me at a cheap price so i jumped on him.

also, keep an eye on the nem feeding on that guy. once he's done, whatever's leftover the nem will spit out. so any starfish bits left in the tank my pollute it.

That is hard to say. It is a struggle for life and death. I would be fighting too! The issue is if the star has a grip on anything internal and you yank...

No matter who started it they appear locked. The star is half in the nem and I can't think of a safe way to extract it while it is alive and can grip the nems insides. You are right thorny stars are safer than chocolate chips but still will go after things if not regularly fed.

Well I waited to see the outcome and the Nem won...lol...removed about a quarter of the star that was left over, checked my levels and everything is stable...doing my reg water change tomorrow...thanks everyone for your help
