Went to bed last night the temp was at 77.6, woke up this morning and its at 82.3! I have the biocube 32 and the fan seems to be running, my heater has been off as well.. any ideas on how this would happen and how do i lower the temp?

open the top lid and blow a fan across the top, also check that your heater isn't stuck on.

I actually unplugged the heater... what heater would you recommend? I have this one..

Thats a good heater, was it stuck on though? what is the ambient temp in the room?

The light wasn't on and the ambient temp is 74 in the room
If you notice too, the dial is turned all the way down, i had it set for 76 but the little blue indicator light has never came on

Which one should i get? I also just put a liquid style thermometer in to see if there is a difference
I use a finnex digital heater controller. It's been great, but it's the only controller I have ever used. There are probably more qualified people that can reccomend other brands, but you should do some research so you can get one you are comfortable with.

Sounds like your heater is stuck on.

I’m a fan of Cobalt Aquatics Neotherm heaters, but I would personally pair that with a temperature controller for redundancy so that if your heater does get stuck on again, you have a safe guard in place. I use Ranco temperature controllers and have used them reliably in 4 tanks. I haven’t used them myself, but I have read and heard that Inkbird controllers are decent.

Im a fan of TrueTemps Titanium with controller
If its not your heater it could be a pump is dragging or frozen and over heating.
