Hi all I got home about an hour ago Tank was perfect - now all of a sudden it’s gone so so cloudy I can’t see into it. Corals and nems have retracted but fish seem fine. no idea what’s going on?? Any ideas?

I though some possibilities:
- Nem in the powerhead - I have heaps of nems but I’m not missing any and I would have noticed plus there isn’t any remains
- bacterial bloom - tank isn’t new so I doubt it
- Doser dumping - all containers are still full so not that
- Skimmer isn’t overflowing
- sand is a little stired up in the corner but wouldn’t cause this much cloudiness

I am at a loss I have never seen anything like it so suddenly. I do have two sea cucumbers Which I can’t see (not that I could see them normally) could they be the culprit?

I did a water 200ltr water change 2 days ago so I have no new water made up to do another water change quickly.....

Running carbon already and skimmer is pumping in plenty of air

Any help would be appreciated!

I would probably test everything and if all is where it should be put fresh carbon in and see what happens. Watch livestock closely. Maybe the cucumber is the culprit like you said

So I may have found the culprit - one of my large trochus snails got into the weir and covered the drain pipe (the main one as I have a bean animal overflow) i assume those would have killed it due to the intense suction of the pipe but when I pulled it out it doesn’t smell and you can see the snail all retracted up the shell but has that disc at the end so not sure if that means it’s a goner anyway.
I removed it and put it in my fuge
Could that have been the reason and if so should I leave the snail in and see if it recovers or toss it

Sounds like your on the right track. Find the other cucumber and start making water, or better yet just go buy some water and do a water change.

Are you dosing any sort of carbon source like nopox/vinnegar/vodka? Also, have you tested the water?

Nope only dosing alk and cal
What should I be testing
I have an ammonia alert badge from when I first set it up a couple months ago and it’s reading 0 as usuall
Apex is saying PH 8.35 and temp at 25.1 Celsius
I am testing alk now but it was 154 ppm two when I did the water change

Alk is fine I usually run at 150

Not sure what could have spawned - I have trochus and nass snails and the sea cucumbers. Nems split regularly but none appear to be splitting at the moment

snail looks ok,poss snail spawn?

alk translated to dkh??please

snail emit clouds of "smoke " when spawning normally when one does others follow "trochus"

148 = 8.3 dhk / normally run it between 8.3-8.7 dkh

I have seen that but as my tank is approx 260gal I didn’t think one could make it this cloudy?

you only have one ?? in 240 8-10 will do it

I have three large ones but I am slowly quarantining more but I can only do 2-3 at a time otherwise they starve lol

starting to clear yet ?
