I have had my 75 set up for 6 weeks 4 of those weeks it was running with just sand .then the past 2 it had some rock and a damsel i got from A lfs and a few rocks from my 29 gal {30lbs]but i havent had it cycle yet , nothing at all no spikes or anything i have been ghost feeding it also , should i wait a little longer or do you guys think it is safe to put in my fish ? and the rest of my LR from my 29 ?

was the rock u put in live rock? if all of it was live rock when it went in it may have been enough to make the cycle really short

if anythign throw a silverside in there and let it go that will get soemthign moving lol

Putting the rest of your rock in from the 29 will help. I dont think anything would have happened in the first 4 weeks when it was just sand. You need to have some live rock in there to get things going. Is the rock in your 29 established? If so then put it in and you should be fine.

The rock i put in was live rock , I cant put all my rock from my 29 as i have all my fishes in there i am working on transferring them over i will throw a silverside in there and try that .

well if you already had established live rock it could already have the bacterial colonies to break down the ammonia--->nitrate, because after 6 weeks and no cycle, thats strange....when i had a cycle my tank turned milky/cloudy color like a bacterial bloom..

if the rock was all live u may have had a very very small cycle that you didnt even notice so i would just tranfer some more rock add one more fish and then slowly add the rest of the fish and rock as u go

and like said above your not going to get a cycle with just sand need the rock and ammonia/nitrite for it to cycle

you could well have missed a spike, if the rock is well established it will convert waste quickly, silversides or deli shrimp are good (I put mine in the filter sock or a net) start testing daily for ammonia and nitrite you should see a little jump soon then gone in a day, if the rock was fresh uncured, you would know, it stinks lol

I did just get a spike the other day was small but now i checked and i have no traces of ammonia so i think i am good to go , I also did get a little brown on my sand but it was very little
Thank you all for the replies
