Morning everyone.

So. Being fairly new to the hobby I do have quite an interesting set up.

I’ve heard a few different opinions from experienced hobbyists and I guess I wanted to see what the R2R family thought.

As I start to acquire a collection of high end softies i continue to ask myself.

LIGHTING?

currently I’m utilizing a 20G long. 30x12x12.

My lighting is a singleocean revive T247.obviously given the dimensions of the tank and the PAR, shadowing is minimal with the ocean revive.

I wanted to upgrade, but is there truly a point in doing so based on the fact that the ocean revive has good coverage on my 20Long.

I feel like if I want to upgrade, I’d be looking at a prime 32 or Red Sea90, and it seems like it isn’t entirely needed or cost effective for my set up.

IS IT WORTH IT?

some photos of my set up are below for attention. I’ve been doing this since about June!

Thanks in advance y’all and have an awesome morning!

If everything is thriving, I'd save the money you'd spend on a new light and buy that tank an appropriate stand.

Ai hydra 26 should do well on this tank

I haven’t even checked into that yet. I’ve only been looking at primes and red seas! Good to know.
Its a cousin to the prime but double lens

It looks like everything is thriving and working as is now, so why fix something that isnt broken? Those T247s will grow SPS in your tank. Only thing you would get by upgrading is fancy features like wifi, more channels to control and so on, but none of those features will grow your corals any better.

With the size of the tank I wouldn’t spend a ton of money on lights. You would do best by keeping hardy corals. Soft corals and Zoa’s due well in this size tank.
You will get ton’s opinions on lighting as everyone has one. The biggest problem many hobbyist cause themselves is changing lighting all the time. It can take time for corals to settle in and start going.
