Help they are popping up like wild fire

I have no idea what these are, and they are popping up everywhere. I have no idea if they are good or bad or what will get rid of them if they are bad. Objects to the right of the coral.

Vermitid snails, I think... but I may be absolutely wrong

I'm guessing vermitid snails. When you feed the tank do they send out a string?
I have them and hate them. they can irritate corals, but mostly they are really pokey when you are doing things in your tank. You can take pliers or string tweezers and crush the body.

Yea, "snot monsters". Dial back your feeding and maybe rinse frozen foods.​

+1 vermetids, super annoying little guys that will continue to multiply if you keep feeding them.

Coral may be favites... complete guess on that though.

Definitely Vermatid Snails. They do get annoying and can be a pain.

I think we have ruled the pest to be vermitid lol but unfortunately, changing feeding/nutrients wont get rid of them. You need to crush them or pick them off. The smallest ones are no big deal, its the bigger calcified ones that youll have a hard time busting.
One of these went through my finger last week as I was moving rocks. Theyre quite sharp.

I second that , had the same thing happen to me and my finger was swollen for a week

Hey all. Gonna tag along in this thread but is the attached picture the same thing? Looks like my hermit is taking a stab at it. Vermatid (sp?) snails ? Have a few of them each with a single mucous sting about 5" long. The body is only about 1/4". Thanks.

Yep same thing. Those larger ones like that are the ones that'll easily cut you if you're not careful.

Thanks for the quick response. FOWLR So far. Was considering adding some starter corals. Should I try to get rid of the Vermatids first? Seems once you have them, they're there for good.
