I have this algae show up from time to time. It rarely gets worse than this. At first look it appears to be cyanobacteria but its green
Any idea what it is?

Possibly BGA of sorts. Looks like there is build up of brown bacterial sludge as well. I've had that stuff take over a tank before, I thought it was common dino at first but after viewing under microscope it seemed much different.

Would advise maybe siphoning it out.

Looks like green film algae. Sometimes it will grow on the sand. Most snails like the green film stuff. Cerith snails are great for cleaning sand but you have to get a lot of them.
