I have a torch coral that I've had for about 2 years now. It has spread into five heads. Not sure what type it is standard green tip. I've always battled nudibranches with this and had success every few months dipping and scraping eggs, but it would come back happy as can be.

I recently had a bad outbreak of prorocentrum dinos . My phos and nitrate were study at zero. I started dosing bright wells neonitro and neophos and adding sponge Excel silicate as well as bacteria dosing. I don't know if it's coincidence but the dinoflagellates are getting worse and while all my other corals, Zoa hammer bird's nest montis seem fine, this torch has retracted. If I blow it with the feeding pipette the tiny tips just blow off in the current like when it was under attack from the nudibranch even though I do not see any evidence this time of any infestation. Any ideas? I took it off the sand bed which is infested with dinos and moved it up onto a rock and blew it off as best as possible. Picture was taken after I really ticked it off blowing it, but normally it does not extend more than 3/4 to an inch when it used to be an inch and a half to 2 in

Looks like a case of brown jelly disease. whew that OP was a mouthful.

I particularly like the part about the dinosaurs getting worse.

Dinos can be a problem and some do release toxins into the water... Looks like a lot on the sand. You could try gravel vac the sand to remove them. I find lights out for a few days very helpful in getting Dino's under control. That and UV

I just got over a little case of the dinos. Took care of them in less than a week. I just made sure to feed heavy. Grabbed some rubble and old snail shells from a buddies tank for some bio diversity, added two bottles of pods. Then siphoned as much out physically and filtered the water and added back into the tank.
