Hi all,

Looking for some emergency help with this one.
I received this torch exactly two weeks ago.

It hasn't been extending as much as of the last few days, so upon closer inspection, I see the membrane on the skeleton is peeling/melting.
I can also see that the skeleton itself is now exposed.

Is there ANYTHING I can do to save it?

For parameters:

Alk:9.7dkh
Phosphate: 0.02
Nitrate: 5ppm
Salinity: 1.026
Mag: 1370

All other corals are doing just fine, including my other torch.
When I received this coral, it had black chicken liver sponge on it, right up to where the membrane is.
I carefully scraped it off and applied some hydrogen peroxide to the skeleton but not the membrane where it was.

Placement important with these guys but mainly water flow and lighting
I suspect strong water flow in which if polyps are bent to one side will weaken and fall off
Calcium below 380 will also cause this as well as high alk

I’ve reduced the flow. But what should I do in terms of trying to help this coral recover?

Lights are turning off soon so the top one is a bit retracted.

It was certainly higher, I lowered it and moved it further from the light.
Trying to give it some low flow right now to let it heal.. Not sure if I can dip it in anything to help it heal

Can’t see the flesh in the pic but your tank looks new based on the rock. How old is it?
Tank is about 6 months old.
the rock on the top looks new because it was a frag rack rock I put in last week

Still a bit immature for torches but the pic of the torch doesn’t look that bad. See how it does in its new location.

Praying for the best

I also found a post from Chumingham on a dip for torches.. includes cipro/witch hazel/chemiclean/Iodine. If things don't look like it's going to pick up by tomorrow, I'll give that a try
