Hello everyone,
I recently had one of my first clowns die from Brooklynella. I still have another clown and a green chromis in the DT while I got the needed supplies to treat the clown.

I have an uncycled QT that has been up for 4-5 days with a heater, sponge filter, air stone, 2 thermometers, some pvc and I have a bottle of bio-spira that has not been put in the tank yet.

I have gotten formalin for immediate treatment and cupramine and copper test kits for future use. I have done reading on a formalin bath and dosing but I am still nervous And with a lack of experience I am sure there will be trouble.

I am planning to give the clown a formalin bath and then move it to the qt and continue dosing formalin at either 1 or 2 ml per gallon.

The green chromis will get a freshwater bath and then also be moved to the qt where formalin will be dosed.(I can only do 1 qt so I am interested to hear suggestions about how to best treat both fish safely).

DT will be empty for the next 6-8 weeks.

I am interested in hearing suggestions on anything that may help my fish I. Terms of other medicine that should be used as well as proper maintenance. I apologize if this post is long but included most of what I have and what is setup so if it was not said above I am probably unaware.
My fish and I thank you for your time and help.

Formalin is tough on fish and on us as well. I’ve always cleared brook with metroplex in QT :).

14 days should do it. I usually use it with copper in conjunction. 30 days copper, 14 metro or 14 both and transfer to a new quarantine that shares nothing with the first :)

This is exactly what my recommended course of action would be^

Thank you very much for your response. I will be using your advise. My clownfish started showing symptoms today(I was hoping for a little more time) he is now in the qt being treated with cupramine.
I am wondering if you could help me some more. It appears like he has these long strands of what I am assuming is mucus, coming off of his body. Is this a normal part of the process or a sign that something is wrong?
Thank you again for your help my fish and I greatly appreciate it!

This is a symptom of serious brook, on occasion. I’d treat as per above you should be fine. Clowns are tough!

Brook is a tough one. I've beat it a few times with Formalin, but as mentioned above...It's harsh on everybody. Do breath it or get it on your skin. I think I would go the metro route if I battle it again.

Good luck man!
