So I literally just bought a reefwave25 from Redsea, yesterday. Set it up with ReefBeat yesterday and was working great. Came downstairs this morning and it’s not alternating flow.

The controller and reefbeat say that it is running my program just fine but the power head is just pushing water at about a 10% Constant speed. I have tried a hard-reset, and a reset through the app, and the problem persists. Does anyone have experience trying to figure this sort of thing out?

Have you tried to run it with just the controller, out of the ReefBeat mode?

Yes. Unfortunately it gave me the same result. When I tried that I noticed that it didn’t matter which program, they all have the same result as above.

I guess your going to need to contact Red Sea USA

Fired mine up bout a week ago, and it has ran flawless, up to this point

Unplug the controller from the main A/C power for 1 minute and see if it resets

Mine started doing the same thing.

I have Red Sea on the phone, and will post if there is a fix.

They are also in my app

Red Sea is sending a new controller box

I have had this exact thing happen to me as well, except mine is a ReefWave 45.
I went through all the troubleshooting steps they recommended - unplug, wait, plug back in. And also do a reset to factory.

Doing that made the pump and program worked fine for a few hours and then reset back to 10% even though the app showed that it was still running my program at 60% max speed.

They set up a ticket for me and sent me out a new controller. Same thing happened with that as well! Extremely frustrating.

I talked to them today and they said the only option at this point is to send me a whole new pump (controller as well as pump). Not sure how that going to help but we will see

Did any of this fix the issue because my reefwave 25 is having the same exact problem was hoping to hear of a fix?

RS customer service resolved my issue by sending me replacements. First they sent me a replacement controller which didn’t do the trick. Then they sent me a whole new package (pump + controller). I continued to have the same issue. Finally they sent me another new controller and that finally did the trick. They did make me jump through hoops when it came to testing everything multiple times per their instructions but I have to say their service was top notch. Always prompt in responding and replacing parts after all options were exhausted.

I think my RW45s have been doing this as well, thought I was going crazy cause I’ve been hearing how powerful these are but even at 100% they aren’t even moving the sand. I have 2 in a 120g

I just received my new controller and no shock here it didn’t work now they want me to send my pump back to them. Really not too happy with them at this point expensive pump to break this quick.

My reefwave has just stopped working also purchased on 26th september 2020. I have emailed uk support. Hopefully get it sorted.

I’m dealing with support right now for a one month old pump that quit. What a headache. We will see what they do. The design on these things are terrible.

unplugged a few times and it worked but wasn't connect to the app as I deleted and reset it. Strange thing was the controller looked like it was connect via the app and running the random preset. The wifi was connect and also the reefbeat icon was on. Strange, I thought happy days so unplugged and plugged back in and stopped working again. Connected back to app and still not working.

So I have mine working again. Here is what I done...

  1. removed device from device manager in reefbeat app,
  2. went to android app settings and forced stopped app,
  3. Cleared cache and data for reefbeat app,
  4. Turned off controller, rebooted and held in button on the bottom for 15secs,
  5. At this point the controller looked like it was connected to reefbeat and started on the last program that I had working on it,
  6. I then logged back into reefbeat app,
  7. held in the wifi button for 5 secs and reconnected via the app as normal.

All seems fine now but not sure if it was pure luck or what i actually done. I suspected it wasn't a hardware fault but an actualy fault somewhere in the system and the app had corrupted. The device was unplugged which started the strange behaviour.

Yes... I’ve been through all the trouble shooting. It’s just junk. At least mine is. I’m done with the gyre design I think. Amazing concept but I think the technology it too high priced for very poor, hit or miss reliability.
