hi reefing community , so i am trying to set up a system to cycle / cure etc my rock
i have to Brut buckets 32g and a panworld 30px i thought id grab water from the bottom of barrel with the output at the top
i thought i could daisy chain the two barrels using connectors ; i even drew a diagram
so i have the barrels 1/2 full of water and ive been trying to prime the pump ; first off i didn't realize that the output and input were capped (see pic) so that was about a 1/2 hour of VERY failed priming ; once i took the plugs out i thought i was home free ; i tried filling the outputs with water ; i tried sucking the outputs one at a time and even BOTH at the same time (a funny image im sure) got a few mouthfuls of water ; this dang thing wont prime ; the only thing i can think is the pump is too small ? or maybe i cant daisy chain it ?? IDK im dying over here
any help would be appreciated (enclosed are 3 pics ) thanks Carl

The issue is that you are using the pump in a way it isn't designed. It needs to have a height of water above it pushing toward the pump. You are trying to pull water up and out of the barrels.

The other problem you will have is that flow will not be even between the two containers. Eventually, one will drain and one will overfill.

thanks Brew12; that is helpful ; if i do it one at a time and pull the water from the top and pump it to the bottom ?, do you think that would work ? thank you carl

If you raise the pump to near the top of the barrel and fill the barrel further you may get it to work.

The ideal way to do it would be to put a hole with a bulkhead near the bottom of the container to feed the pump and let it discharge into the top.

You know, the easiest way to do it would just be to drop a powerhead in each container and let it circulate. Doesn't have to be a large powerhead, either.
