Hi guys,

i am brand new to reef2reef, and i am almost sure that this was covered but couldn't seem to find it.
My questions is I am on the go for a zoa garden, i find it beautiful.

I bought 2 frags, shipped from cherrycoral (Mi-CA), one of the frag (goblin fire) has two polyps, the other (miami vice blue) has only one.

One with the one polyp (miami vice blue) opened up after an hour and stays open.

but the other frag (goblin fire) one is open and the other is closed,

I place them on the bottom, low to medium flow.

My water Parameters are
Ph 8.4
Nitrate 5
Phosphate 0.02
Calcium 400
Kh 12
Salinity 1.023
Temp. 79

All my other corals thrive and looks good

i am hoping stress of the travel and new tank stress but my question is would one can stay open and the other one can be closed?

Please remember i am brand new to zoas, and fairly new to saltwater.

be gentle.

I bought goblins on fire with 9 other zoas in a pack and it was a couple of days before it opened.

One can remain closed from a possible trauma or stress. In my personal opinion you kh is a bit high compared to your other parameters, salinity is low. Corals do not thrive in low salinity.

They both opened up i am a bit relieved i think that trauma and stress were dead on comments, but I will be doing a water change tomorrow to balance the tank a bit more, example: salinity, kh

I agree with my Kh being high haven't dosed any b-ionic alkalinity, only dosing calcium until i see the kh drop to 9, trying to do slowly so it doesn't shock the animals.

I think that couple of water changes and coral consumption will bring kh lower.

Thank you guys
