I discovered my male purple queen anthia laying on the bottom of my qt tank today. He has always been a hider, while the female is always out and about. He is just laying there, falling to his side every now and then. When he turned he had a decent size patch of brown on its side. I don’t know what this is!?! They have been in QT for about 3 weeks. I started copper power about 2 weeks ago at 2.5ppm. Is this some kind of bacteria growing on him? What can I do to help?
Meds on hand:
Ruby reef rally pro
General Cure
Kanaplex

Again, I’m at 2.5ppm copper right now and don’t have a third tank to move it to.

my LFS has a huge variety so if I need something else i

Looks like a nick, bite or injury that can develop bacterial issues
Isolate in quarantine and treat with seachem kanaplex

It is already in a 40 gal QT with 4 other fish. Is it safe to use Kanaplex with copper?

You can dose Kanaplex with copper, but I think Neoplex is a better choice.

The reality is that this looks like Uronema, possibly with a secondary bacterial infection. I presume the fish has been less than 40 days from importation? If so, that is when you see Uronema with wrasse, chromis and anthias. I know there are all sorts of "cures" offered for this problem, but I have never been able to cure it - once you see the lesion on the outside of the fish, the intercellular infection has already taken its toll, and it is typically fatal. Luckily, it is also not really contagious - the fish arrive to you with it and they die, but they rarely infect other fish that aren't already carrying it (other anthias in the same group may be). Copper won't work well. I have been able to control it with chloroquine, but only OUTSIDE the fish, not internally....sorry!

We are seeing a LOT more Uronema - my suspicion is that it is somehow related to longer shipping times due to Covid and the subsequent disruption in overseas shipping times.
