So I've had 2 polyps(+3 Baby polyps) of the Utter Chaos Palythaos in system since Aug.21 and just 3 days ago they started closing up for no apparent reason.Something that caught my attention was that it seems they've released their feeding tentacles from their mouths. On a side note my parameters have stayed the same and I haven't added any livestock since then.

The closest corals to the polyps are an acan colony to the back another some zoos(their open and happy) to the right and a tiny CB Fuego chalice frag to the left.Their seems to be some fuzzy clear growth around some of the polyps but other than that nothing. @Coastie Reefer

How close exactly is the acan? Are the zoas down flow from the acan? Those can sting even a few inches at night. You might not even see it continue when the lights are on.

I've noticed utters seem to do better in lower light but I don't have great luck with utters specifically for some reason. And I doubt that would be the problem here if you've had them previously doing well in that spot.

I'm not sure what the clear stuff is, but it looks like it's aggravating the polyps. The ones closest to the the growth seem more upset and look to be changing colors or developing spots(but doesn't look like zoa pox). Might consider removing the frag if you can and cleaning off the growth. An iodine dip probably wouldn't be a bad idea either.

They're around about 1-1.5 inches away from the Acans with the flow alternating from left to right on the top part of the tank while at the bottom its significantly weaker.I'll keep an eye on any wondering tentacles at night. @Triggreef

Would you recommend giving it a gentle scrub?Alright I'll do an Iodine dip later today.Would it be better to give it multiple dips through the week? @Coastie Reefer

I'd see what putting a soft bristle toothbrush to it would do. I'd dip once then give a few days. Hope it bounces back...

Hummm... this is how I would do:
No need iodine!
Get a little container with about 8 to 10 oz of fresh water and 2 to 3 drops of hydrogen peroxide in it.
Mix with spoon and dip the plug in for 20 secs max.
Remove it and clean the stuff off with soft tooth brush and very fine tweezers. Very carefully!
If you can remove only with the tweezers, better!! Avoid brushing!
Don't keep cleaning forever. Faster the better. But be careful!
Dip again in the same solution and shake off the stuff from the plug.
Return plug back in the tank and leave it alone far from any coral.

I agree with the peroxide dip may need more then a couple drops though depending on the size of the container used. I add drops until I see bubbles forming on the plug.

But after I dip I then rinse the plug in another container with tank water and a couple drops of iodine let it sit in there for 2 min then back in the tank

My recommendation above is because of the way the polyps are already stressed out.
The key with hydroxide is to use it only so much before it gets out of hand. Small amounts is better than more than needed.
Remember: the power of the hydroxide dip is basically invisible.
I use the "see first bubbles" technique to dip polyps not too damaged/affected.
Yes, you can rinse them before putting in the tank too... but if you remove all the crap from the plug with tweezers you're not bringing the trash in the tank. So no need.
Main thing there is to clean the frag and have it open soon.
