Hello,

I am Rabi51 and very new to this Forum...........but PLEASE help me with my problem?
I have something in my 29 gal cube that I believe to be eating my fish. I have tried to take videos of it and managed to get two half descent pictures of the thing living between two sections of my rock.
In the last 3 weeks I have had a yellow goby, a two spot blenny and a firefish (with this one, it was just injured to the point that I had to put it away) and I think possibly this "thing" is attacking my fish. I am including two pictures (hoping they are good enough that I can finally have some answers) with the first one it is with natural light and it shows it more or less open with something that looks like a worm type thing coming out and wiggling and with the last one, it has the blue light on it and it has just snapped shut. I have no idea if the thing came in on one of my recent frag pieces or if it has been with some of the rock I bought months ago and just has finally grown to the point that it is now dangerous and hungry!
Please HELP??

Oh heck.......I hope not! I had one years ago and it took me weeks to trap and get it out of my tank. I finally took the whole rock out and threw it in fresh water just so it would die. How small could a mantis be if it was just starting out??

It's hard to tell the definition from the pictures but maybe it's time to pull a trap out or dip the rocks :)

The thing has absolutely stayed in that same place......never moving from there. My thoughts are that I might have to dismantle my rock and try to get at him. I'm not looking forward to it but if I need to I need to. I just hate to disrupt all my corals that are glued to the rocks that are attached to that base one.

I can't tell from the pictures but could it possible be a bobbit worm? Look them up and see if it looks like it. Bobbit worms are normally in the sand though.

I can't tell what it is. Anyone else?

Any video you can get, I would love to see more. Maybe more would give us the hint we need.

Well we have been without power for the better part of an hour now and I did manage to catch another video but not sure that this one is any better. I can send it on to you if you want?

Oh yes please. Sometimes it's just a flash of something that gives you the hint you need.

No power? That bites!

Ya those eyes are a dead giveaway, can you Luehr it out with food to get a better look at it? Also did you buy live rock or did you start with dry?
