Help what is this?

Found this snail (I think?) randomly in my tank today, assumed from rock put in from previous tank. But have no idea what it is, is it safe?

That’s a cowry of some kind - I’d need a clearer pic to ID it though.

Could you pull it out into a bowl of tank water and get some clear, close-up pics of it (showing the full body and the “trunk/mouth” of the snail) in the bowl under white light, then return it to the tank?

The shell (currently hidden under your specimen’s foot) and the little things jutting off of the cowry there are key to ID’ing these things.

Oh, good! I was about to say it was covered in hydroids!
