Help...What is this?

So I noticed this growing in my HOB protein skimmer, and a lil bit on the back of the tank. It's definitely some kinda algae but I don't know if it's good or bad.
Please can anyone identify this for me, should I be worried or should I let it be. If I'm to take it out, how can I get rid of it from inside the HOB protein skimmer?
