I got a white tail bristletooth tang from liveaquaria, it's been a couple of weeks now, the fish is very skittish, does not seem to come out to eat when I feed my fish but i do see him eating algea off the back of tank and live rocks, would this be enough for it?

Give it some time. I am sure some food makes it back to where he is hiding also. You could aim some his direction. My mate has 1 and it took near 3 months before it came out during the day

Foraging is a good sign so long as it's maintaining weight. .Any possible competitors? If yes I would isolated the competition for a couple of days to let the tang gain some confidence.

thanks. i have yellow and a hippo tang both dont eat the algea, the tangs dont bother him plus he is bigger. every time i got near he dash away so now i try to just dump the food in and walks back but still not seeing him come out. the back side of my tank is almost went out of algea now.

Mine was skittish all through 6 weeks of qt. One I put him in the DT, his personality completely changed and he became king of the tank, bullying everyone.

Give it time. As mentioned before, if he is grazing and not losing weight he should become bolder.
