I have had a 90 day reef tank running for over a year now going great except every time I try and add a couple clown fish they disappear within a week or two . Currently for live stock
I have a yellow tang , a blue tang 2 cleaner shrimp and corals . The picture shows the tank . I’ve checked the overflow and the sump as well . I just don’t get it I’ve lost 6 clowns in the past year

Consider yourself lucky to not have a clown fish in your tank(not the dying part of course). They are mean as the devil and bite the crap out of me whenever I try to do anything in my tank. I had my arm resting on the rim of the tank and it came out of the water to bite me. I’ve had mine get trapped in the overflow box, but not 6. Maybe you need to buy them from someone else. They are like cockroaches and don’t die easily. Especially if you’re keeping other fish alive that shouldn’t be a threat to them.

Do you have a anemone in the tank for them to host?

Have your tangs been aggressive with them? Are you putting them in 1 at a time? A pair at a time? Are the clowns captive bred or from the wild? Are there any corals or inverts that might be taking them out? We might be able to figure it out, but it could be just dumb luck.

this thread should me merged with the other thread of the same name. It has a pic that’s not here.

That elegance looks pretty suspect to me. Have you looked around the tank for possible jumpers? When a fish dries up, they’re pretty tough to notice. Especially if they’re a tiny clown.

edit: they’re not the same name, just the same poster and topic

Make sure you are starting with healthy, good quality Clowns. Not all captive bred clowns are created equal. ORA sets the industry bar for health and quality. The other end, worst quality are Sea and Reef. Lots of unhealthy, deformed fish that should have been culled get sold to retailers from Sea and Reef.

People asking parameters and what not didn't read what he typed? It's stand tank with lots of other fish.
Most probably cause here is one of the corals or anemones they trying to get to are eating them. What anemone es and corals you got? Can't c the pic.

How many clowns do you add at a time?

Have you gotten them all from the same source/store? If they disappear within 2 weeks sounds like they are coming sick, maybe brook.
