HELP WITH 2 WEEK OLD TANK

Hi all - Needing help to why this is happening in my new reef tank just 2 weeks old as of Monday.

Thank you so much for the quick response and help. I am getting a lot of stringing things floating from my rocks...No fish, coral or CUC at this time. Here is a picture from the video

Diatoms is the first algae that appears in a new tank. Sometimes it will have stringy filaments but generally not just a brownish powdery type algae that goes away in a few weeks. Mainly hits the sand but I can see some brown patches on the rocks.

Orange brown, usually appear on the sand due to silica.

What you should do is leave lights off the first 4 months to allow your tank to develop biodiversity and microfauna before adding coral and turning them on. Fish don't need lights. This will make your ugly phases over the course of the first year more manageable.

These are not diatoms but surface film and with this LIFE rock, often when not cleaned and rinsed , it will emerge once loosened by water and water flow. You should be able to pull these what looks like fibers and net or discard them right away. If you added bacteria supplement, also may have triggered this.

Anyway it doesn’t look like diatoms as vetteguy stated, did you rinse the rocks before placing them inside the tank? To me it just looks like it’s debris coming off the rock

Thanks for you help, I did not rinse the rock and it was CaribSea LifeRock. Added the follow when I started the tank as directions suggested https://www.aquavitro.com/seed.php
