Help with a small tank upgrade…

Hi! Go easy on me please as we are fairly new to the hobby.
I keep a single peacock mantis shrimp. We’ve had him since June thriving in our previous fresh 26 gallon that this group helped me cycle.
This past weekend we got a great deal on a 50 gallon AIO. We are in no rush to switch him over so I just want to make sure I do this right and don’t kill the one occupant I’m doing it for.

Would it be better to collect water from weekly water changes (2-3 gallons) and just add it slowly over time directly into the new tank?
Would it be better to just add as much of the 26 to the 50 and just mix new saltwater for the rest?
Is it best to do it quickly over the course of one day or slowly over the course of a weeks or month?

Im planning to use new sand… all the existing rock. We currently run a canister Fluval 107 and planned to run that on the side of the AIO for a month or so just to be safe along with the new media in the back of the AIO. We also will use the same protein skimmer.

I would not be afraid to add your mantis to the bigger tank with everything in the smaller tank and just make up the rest of the rest of the salt water at the same salinity. Mantis shrimp are a fairly hardy species.

I moved tanks recently. I was a longer move because my aquarium was not produced as promised, Truvu was 3 weeks late. I took my old water and used it to keep my fish, lr, and sand in. The new tank has all the new water. It took me a while to file it all up, 125 gallons. I figured, why put nitrates and all that into a new tank when there was a chance that I would go through a mini-cycle? Fortunately, I insta cycled with my old sand and LR. I also used the old water to clean out the detritus from the sand.

I really like that stand on the left. My wife would hate it, but that's why we are divorcing, she has no taste.

We got the whole setup for $300! If I’m honest the stand wasn’t my favorite but can’t beat the price..
