So I have like 5 RFA's in the tank for the past year. Strangely one has migrated to the very top of my tank and set up base camp securing his foot inside my RMS mount. I tried to gently remove him but he just closed up tight and tucked into the space hole of the mount. I'm worried that if I force him off his foot will tear.

I don't mind him setting up shop there but water change is upcoming and not sure he can survive 20 minutes out.

Do you think he will free drop during the water change?

He will be fine. If it doesn't like it it will move. Detach and fall back into the tank

Fine out of water during water change?
Yep. I've left rocks out of water for extended periods of time rearaging rocks. If your worried about it occasionally pour water over it

Great idea thanks. I wasn't so much worried about drying out but I thought all our aquatic friends needed water flowing through them constantly for 02?

They will slime up its a protection mechanism to prevent drying out. Perfectly fine.

Remember some coral is exposed for long periods of time during low tide.
