Hey I am new to the hobby (December 2019) and having trouble with my acan corals. I've been observing my green acan appears to be falling apart. My orange acan appears to be fine and healthy.

I have a 10 gallon cube with an ATO. keep the temp at 78, sal at 1.026, nitrate below 5 and phosphate very low. my alk is at 11.8.

I've been told my skunk cleaner shrimp could be effecting the coral and taring it apart. I was advised to feed my shrimp first then spot feed the coral.

Any other advise that can be provided is extremely appreciated.

Shrimps can be problematic in a reef tank but unless you have witnessed it harming your Acans I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet.. IMO your Alk is very high for a lower nutrient tank, I would slowly drop that. Lots of opinions out there but at this point I would never run my tanks over about 8.5 .. Mid to high "7's" is where I currently run my low nutrient mixed reef.

Mine hate being on the bottom as sand always ends up on them. I keep mine at lower 3rd to mid tank and moderate light and flow feeding 2X per week.

The green one does look nibbled on. How often do you feed the acans? They do love be fed lol. Your Alk is kind of high for that low of nutrients. Typically you want an Alk level near the mid 7 range for your nutrient levels. How long have you had the acans?
