Help with adding a refugium please

I have an aqua one mini reef 215 sump, can I add a refugium to it? I have a nyos skimmer so sits in the centre part instead of the original aqua one skimmer hanging on the side.

Also depending on the flow you may not get out of it all you had hoped for

I can do modifications myself and have the ability to cut my own acrylic at work.

I thought I could remove the small box on the left hand side next to the inlet for the skimmer to sit in and then add an acrylic baffle after the skimmer chamber to create the fuge. What I’m not sure of though is

1. how high should the baffle be
2. How do I regulate the water flow so that the pump doesn’t just suck the space dry?
