Kind of funny how with jumping back into this, I'm realizing how much I either forgot about or just simply never knew in the first place.
40 gallon tank, 20 gallon sump, almost 3 months old, cycle completed a little over 2 months ago.
Skimmer is a Bubble Magus 5.
Lights are only running 6 hours/day.
Params:
1.025
Nitrite/Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: < 5.0
Havent tested phosph.
Temp very consistently 78
Stock: Lawnmower blenny, YCG, Elegant Dottyback, and 2 Maroon Clowns.
Im asking for help with two things. First, I can't see colors very clearly, especially red and green, which makes it hard for me to ID things precisely. I'd like to get this algae ID'd, from there I can probably research how to deal with it. Part of me thinks I just need to ride it out, the tanks is still pretty new.
Probably the best pics I can get with the DSLR (been using an Iphone so long, I need to refresh how to use this!)
Second, I feel like I could be doing better with the refugium (middle sump chamber). I tried to grow chaeto, but with the nitrates so low, it died fairly quick. Thinking about adding some more LR down there, bigger pieces. I dont know whether or not I should be worried about nutrients at this point, but my focus for the fuge is to start fostering more biodiversity down there.
I'd like to start adding corals, but feel things are still too new at this point. Part of me thinks, "Dude, the tank is 3 months old, just ride this out." But at the same time, I'd like to know what Im dealing with. Thoughts?
Finally......just a pick of my clownfish. Cause they're rockin'!
