Hello, can someone help identity this algae? I had it for a couple weeks now but it used to appear a dark orange-brown, and now it’s greenish.

Can you see it grows from where your lights hits the surface of your sand, it don't grow underneath your rock's/ aquascape.
You could maybe try turkey blasting into a ball then remove with fingers,

I’ve been turkey blasting the sand almost every day so it might get picked up by the filter or something, but haven’t been manually removing it. I also have a really cheap in-tank UV sterilizer I got for free that I was hoping would kill it when it’s free floating. I will try removing with fingers/a net but it usually just disintegrates when I blast it.

Best method I found was manually removing all or as much as possible, your filters will do alot in regards to finer floating bits, your filters will get clogged up or full, clean these out every couple of hours, it may seem hard work for now but it will be worth it.
Once you get on top of this, you will be so happy

I appreciate your help! I will do as advised. By the way, do you have any idea what type of algae/bacteria I’m dealing with?

Here is something that just popped up: is this dinoflagellates?
