Having problems with a DC5500S sent several back to Coralvue for replacement/repair and it's taken too long for this back and forth, action. My tank has suffered from no skimmer , with this growth of I'm not sure, turf algae?

It's thick, short and will scrub off the LR but grows back like crazy, so I have decided to "COOK" the LR. What's the best way to start?? Will Muritaic acid work on this stuff ?

In the mean time I'll finish DIY a new skimmer using a Bubble-Blaster 10k and continue with 50 gal WC's

thanks

Muratic acid will definitely kill it. Peroxide will work too.

There are several natural predators to it as well. Appears to be run of the mill green hair algae.

Appears to be run of the mill green hair algae- I don't think it's run of the mill green hair algae , HGA is more stringy and long, this stuff is low and more like a brillow pad

Yes mine was the same way. A yellow tang cleared it out in a week.

If conditions are right it could stay that length I guess. Or it might get longer.
