I have brown algae in my tank that I can't get rid of. I have been using chemiclean in and it goes away. After doing a water change it comes back.. any ideas would be appreciated.
I have a 110 gallon tall tank, a sump with sock filter and a UV light. The algae only appears only on the sand.I have had my water checked and all is good.

How old is the system and were are you phosphates and Nitrates at?:)

My tank is two years old and the phosphates are zero and my Nitrates are normal.i use ro water and have had my water checkked.

What is a normal test on your No3.
Did you do a test on the algae as it can be spirulina or cyano!!

Here's how you check it, quick check for is take a sample of the mats from the tank with tank water in a cup add a bit of H2O2 and see if it has a reaction. No reaction= spirulina.

Bacteria dosing with Aqua forest Bio-S worked for me.
Your tank will turn nutrient arm but spirulina has no chance after a few days.

What does (Your tank will turn nutrient arm) mean.

You water will detect low nutrients, sometimes it will come down to that your test kits say 0.0 on the No3 and Po4.
Don't worry you're not at 0.0, you never will be.
But algae will starve and die, corals will starve too but will bounce back.
