Can some one help with a decent ID with this nuisance algae so I can beat it before it takes over my reef tank please

I have tried to scrap it of the rocks which works well for a week and before you know it's back again , I have gone out to the lfs and loaded up on snails and they cant keep up with the growh rate off the algae

It can't be a nutrient based algae because my NO3 is sitting around 0.2ppm and my PO4 NYOS high range test kit shows I have 0.025 ppm !!

Any good ideas out there plz

If seen people use chemicals like hydrogen peroxide and flucanzole to kill off algae problems ! Is this some thing I can use on a lps and sps reef tank ?

Not sure if it's just me, but it doesn't look like algae to me. It looks more like some kind of fungus, but I couldn't tell what from the pics.

Have you scraped samples off and examined it?

How does it seem to you?

Sorry I'm not much use, hopefully someone else can shed some light.

Hi and thanks for the reply, I have been told its not a common algae and the only way to get rid of this is to take out all the rocks from the tank and crap them clean with a knife and rinse with clean salt water! But that would bring me so much stress having to keep doing that and I'm sure there must be a different way to beat this !

It feels slimy and seams to have the same characteristics as bubble slim algae !

You could always give fluconazole a shot. A reefer in my club used it on his sps tank with no ill effects at all. Another thing I’ve used on my own tank was API algaefix marine, I used it to get rid of bubble algae in about 6 weeks time.

I hope so thanks Ludders ,
My tank runs perfect and I'm happy with it just need to get rid of this slime on the rocks ,
I don't even run gfo or dose any nopox or carbons and the tank runs near to UNLS levels , just need a expert advice on this

I thinking flucanzole would be a weapon of choice on this ! But how do work out the dose I need?
