As of today I decided to add a apex system to my 45g reef. So far I decided to start with the Jr base and plan to expand it to the full bang over the year with that being the only way I can justify what I'll be spending what the end total would be to the wife. Just wondering what would be the best order of implementing upgrades? I have a full system of cheap stuff currently which is going to be replaced as I go. Just wanna hear you guy's opinions on how I should go about it.

I started with the EL and (2) eb832.
Added a dos last year for awc and (2) wav.
I had already the tunze ato.
Trident is expensive unless you want that to help with your dosing and testing.
I just have Hanna checkers for testing. I can't justify the price of the trident yet if ever.

Apex, EB832, DOS, Trident, FMM...
That's close to what I was personally thinking. The EB832, how's the battery backup? Can it handle flow pumps and a 300w heater for at least 10 hours? When i say flow pump I only have one nero 3 that for the most part stays 60% or lower

I have hannah tested and even have the new monitor that I wouldn't recommend. If like to eventually get a trident but that'll probably be if I can find one second hand. Have you had a chance to see how long the battery in the eb832 lasts ballpark?

Apex as a monitor and basic controller is OK, but I was not impressed with DOS. Other peripherals are also overrated and not a first quality, besides most of dosing pumps come with their own apps. I also prefer Tunze for ATO.

The battery in the eb832?
Not following.
It's not a battery and doesn't have a battery.

There's no battery backup with the EB832 - but I'd probably look at something like the EcoTech, IceCap or an APS UPS unit for your powerheads (I probably wouldn't worry about your return pump or heaters on backup).

My mistake I was

I must've gotten something wrong. Though i read something on that.

OK, that's pretty much all I would need it for. I don't plan on any reactors or anything on that level for a while. Just looking to have the basic routine covered with minimal effort
