Hi my water test came out good but I’m still having issues with algae. I’m running skimmer, gfo, photo period at 8 hours (blues and violet) no filter socks. It’s mainly a frag tank with a few prices of live rock in the sump. I want the look of the fish store and other tanks with no algae.

What’s the secret to no algae and pristine tank?

Thanks

Any pics? I'm running a 40gal frag tank with 40lbs of Live Rock, in tank Skimmer and no gfo. I see minimal green hair algae.

You can see the green on the bottom of the tank. Also getting some on frag plugs. I have a good CUC with turbos, asterea and trohcus snails

I added a makeshift refugium and light to my sump. I had to be creative cause my sump doesn’t have a dedicated refugium. The light has been successful at growing hair algae in my sump which has kept it out of the tank. Whatever irks I guess!

what’s the secret? My nitrate and po4 are all in check
Your phosphate and nitrate levels are probably not in check as much as you think. If you have hair algae, it’s the algae that’s eating the nitrates and phosphates. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. You just need to move that algae to a different place than your display tank, That’s one of the main reasons to have a refugium or algae scrubber. Grow the algae where you want it.

possible to use NoPox

Sorta looks like green cyano. could you get a pic with whites? Also an up close pic of the algae. Also please post params. Also I would not dose NoPox until you know your levels. It might kill your corals
