Ok so I am doing a water check on my Biocube (filling it up with water then draining it just to make sure it holds water) and just have a question. So when I fill my tank up to the top do I independently add water to the sump too? Also should I even add water to the sump for a water check? Sorry if these are dumb questions but I just want to make sure.

U have an external sump or are u referring to the back section? I usually fill through the back chamber more accurate.

So now I’m draining the tank and there is water in the sump will that drain out too or do I have to do that separately?

I'm not familiar with those tanks but it looks like an AIO (all-in-one) tank, right? Water goes into the back section and then gets returned on the other side of the back after hitting the filter media. You'll need to manually remove the water from the back section. Whether it be siphoning it out or just pick the tank up and flip it over to drain it.
Unless there is a little emergency drain hole in the back wall at the bottom to allow water to flow out like the Evo 13.5's have.

Ok thanks yeah I just turned on the pump and it pushed most of the water into the main tank which I then siphoned out!

No problem. Only thing I would be afraid of when turning on the return pump when all the display water is out is running the pump dry if the water level gets too low when trying to shoot the excess water back into the display.

I wouldn’t run my pump like that but that’s just my 2 cents. Pretty easy to get a python back there. Can’t wait to see the setup!
