Help with brown slime algae diatom / Dino's / slime

The light over the fuge is a 165w horticulture light. The tuf scrubber was actually purchased from clear water scrubbers so the light was just whatever they provided.

That actually looks like cyano so the scrubber won’t affect the growth of it since it’s a bacteria. But if it was overcleaning your water, it can cause cyano to bloom too. What size scrubber did you have on it and what was your light cycle set at?

It's a clear water scrubber cw100.
I've it set to on all the time currently.
I've never actually seen it grow turf yet (still remaining hopeful as I know these can take a few weeks to kick on.)

The scrubber will have a hard time getting going if you are vodka dosing. The carbon dosing will reduce the nutrients down to where the scrubber will never get going. You will have to stop that to get the scrubber screen seeded correctly.

Does it disappear at night then come back when the lights are on during the day?

It looks similar to what I have fought for the past 5 years. I always thought it was diatoms but it turned out to be dinos.

Also, 10 - 11 TDS is VERY HIGH.
You may want to invest in a RO/DI unit. It will go a long was towards making a dent in your issue.

I have this stuff in 2 different tanks I cant get it to go away. I tried cyano stuff 3 times did nothing then I tried dr tims both types and that did noting but make it grow faster I have sucked it all out and its back the next day I also did the 3 day no lights it did nothing. what did you do to get rid of it?

99.8% sure that is cyanobacteria. I've had dino before and it doesn't look like that at all. it's more stringey and snot like and emits bubbles. cyano can look somewhat similar but it is more red and smooth sheet like appearance like your pics. sometimes cyano is a result of poor water quality, flow etc and other times it will pop up for no apparant reason. boyd chemiclean https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/chem...mYtNAxFDR6I6gGp0T-IVOer5C2GRrDjcaAmlKEALw_wcB will take care of it in 24 hours. Read the directions carefully, increase water oxygenation and be prepared to do a big water change. If you have a skimmer you will need to turn it off during treatment and it will take a while to get it running right after treatment. After the magic powder has done it's job I like to add a lot of carbon and turn my skimmer on to let it go nuts and overflow. I have it drain into a 5 gallon bucket as another 5 gallon bucket of fresh saltwater slowly siphons in the tank. Just be sure to not walk away from the tank and forget your skimmer is filling up a bucket. I take the float switch I use to sense the skimmer cup is full and fasten it in the bucket. when the bucket fills, my apex will shut off the skimmer and send me an alert as well as sound alarms.

nope tried it nothing happened I have totally removed it from the sand like the picture and It comes right back my tank is 10 years old my prams are all in line nothing is out of place I tried blackouts dr tims waste away and bacteria made it grow faster. I can remove it from the sad and its back in hours. I don't get it nothing is working and I have it in 2 separate tanks not attached.

1. Got myself a microscope. Had dinos and a strange triangle shaped diatom.

2. Got a UV sterlizer and ran the UV for a month and the dino blooms in the water at night went away although the brown matts didn't go away. Just more trangle diatoms then dino cells after the UV.

3. Tested water for nitrates and phosphates they were zero.
Started dosing got P up to 0.10ppm and got N to 5ppm. (tested daily) turned off skimmer.

4. Stopped doing water changes and made sure i was using under 3 TDS water for top off water.

5. Used a hose to suck out brown stuff into a filter sock, spent a lot of time doing it siphoning every part of the rock even under the rock all sides and holes. Cleaned the glass and used clean filter socks after.

6. added dr tims waste away, vibrant, seachem seed. 1/4 dose of each. Made sure the skimmer and the uv was off when dosing bacteria for an hour or two.

6. Did a 3 day black out, made sure i had lots of water flow 3000 gph. Air stones and turned on the skimmer in the black out. (N and P elevated from the black out)

7. Got some hair algae to grow after the black out

8. after growing out hair algae for a month. I would vacuumed all the brown stuff into a filter sock in my sump, every other day seeing any brown nasty stuff showing its ugly face. I dosed the mixed types of bacteria after vacuuming in small amounts.

Added more fish because nutrients would deplete

Started to see more green than brown, strarted to beef up the CUC

And i continued to suck out the brown stuff and dosing bacteria

Notice i had to suck out less brown nasty less and less

Spots are maturing on the rock where the CUC has been munching

Its still not over yet for me but im getting there i think. Trying to promote the stuff i want living in my tank. Trying get the tank in balance where all parameters stay consistent and dont change.

FWIW dont go in blind and just assume its this or that... Testing is the key, light is important also try using more of a blue spectrum.
I also added in a piece of live rock with macro algae and purple coralline aglae sponges and worms, copepods.
Also been dosing iodine.
And only using the skimmer if phosphates and nitrates get to high, keeping it off fir the most part.

Im also consider starting up water changes when its in balance

The totally covered rock looks like classic phosphate soak. Also, instead of "less than 3 TDS" water, do everything you can to get zero.
