Hey all bought a piece of liverock last week that had some corals on it . I just need some help with I'd of a coral or two ! Please and thanks . Only asking because coral doesn't seem to be doing well even though I've checked calcium and magnesium levels. It seems to be losing color . The tank was just started entirely with live rock but I think there are some diatoms going on at the moment because of brown I see on rocks .

I actually just spoke to the person I got the Rock off of recently and he did say a Miami hurricane chalice . Since I've gotten it the colors have gotten faded! I'm wondering if the lighting is too intense for it or what the reason for fading is

How long has it been since the cycle? If it's to soon that could be part of the issue. Keep the parameters stable and hopefully they'll turn around. Not sure about to much light, normally chalices prefer lower light medium flow. The die off looks chemistry related.

Unfortunately it came on the rock I purchased and has been in there since cycle . I tried to keep calcium and magnesium right . Hopefully it makes it. If it doesn't , how do I remove it from rock.

I had bought a Hollywood stunner chalice frag and it was doing the same thing so I moved mine to a partially shaded part and it seems to be coming back I'm running 300 watt full spectrum leds so I was thinking it was getting to much lighting as well after I moved him he seems to be bouncing back when I got him he was the size of a half dollar and after the die off he was like the size of a pinky nail but he is starting to grow again I've been watching and checking the growth not much but there is some so maybe move the rock to where he gets in direct lighting? Hope he survives good luck
