Super bright green. Was told it was SPS and resembles monti cap but I don’t think it is. Got this chunk free with an anemone I bought from someone shutting down a tank.

Anyone know what it is?

Looks like a montipora plating coral

Is it completely encrusted on the rock it’s on or are they plating parts coming away from the attached surface ?
Just encrusted on the rock with some bits that grow up into little points but nothing growing out like my common red monti cap.

I’ll look up encrusting montis per your other comment! Thanks!

It sort of looks like a hydnophora. Those bumps on the coral looks like the monticules of hydnophora. Tuberculae of montipora would not be that big or in that shape. However, I do not see any tentacles that you would normally see surrounding a hydnophora’s monticules.

I agree it’s an encrusting hydrophora just taking a while to acclimate probably. I have always had the branching kind which do much better with good nutrients in the water and get extremely fluffy and slimy.
