So I recently got this coral (yesterday) and I don’t know much information on it other then keeping it alive. I’ve been noticing that it kinda floats on one side while the rest just drapes down. The coral itself is a bit lifted meaning it’s on a plate so that it sits flat. Is this normal for a new coral or is there something I should be doing? I posted pictures to show what I’m talking about.

Known as a meaty button coral does best under moderate light and water flow with Good and stable tank conditions. They do have sweepers and stingers and should be placed at least 3" from other coral and also feeding is best done at night when their tentacles emerge. Food such as mysis shrimp , regular chopped shrimp, pieces of fish are best foods

every coral is different. it will find its happy spot. if elevated it definitely will continue to “drape” down

Awesome information! Thank you for the information I gave it some serious the person I got it from had it opening 6+inches so I gave it all the space I can offer without moving rocks out of the tank.

Gotcha. So just let it chill for a bit and see what it does. So I shouldn’t be worried about that section just wanting to flap around?

Keep in mind that the "skirt" is extended from the skeleton and will be impacted by flow. By the looks of your pic, it may be just that... they will retract if they get too much flow. I keep mine on the sand bed so they have support when the extend. They tend to do better when the "skirt" is supported... I've tried elevated, on rocks, and on sand bed... unnamed71.jpg

Gotcha, now is about the time I still wished I had a sand bed. Any pointers on how I can support the skirt? I can maybe put stax rocks around it so that is so what leveled.

That should work. Or a flat shelf type rock and set it on it. Others have used a piece of eggcrate and put it on that to stabilize it as opposed to elevating it. I've been known to use pvc (1" piece of a diameter that fits the skeleton) to hold the skeleton securely.
No perfect way...

So the skeleton is secured on the plate it’s on and it’s was like that before I got it so it’s used to be on it but only difference from the original tank to mine is that the person had it in the middle elevated but my lighting should be the same and flow if anything a bit more but it’s not much moment. So I’ll just put some rocks around it so that it simulates the original tank.

Good idea. You may want to position it so it gets even flow. I lost a cynarina that got too much flow from one direction and didn't realize it until it was too late.
