Hi all,
So up till today i have been buying my saltwater as well as my ro/di water for my reef tank. I want to move onto mixing my own water due to time issues with gonig to the LFS every weekend. I was wondering which of these ro/di units you reckon would be the best as well as if a TDS meter is nessecary ill add links for the ones im looking at right now (I live in sydney, Australia if that helps at all). My tank is around 75G. Im not sure the diffrences between a 4 or 5 stage is... any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all!
Or 50gpd units

Knowing what’s in your source water is where you want to start, here in the states we can get reports of exactly whats in our water and what chemicals are being used to processes it.. IMO you definitely want a 100 gpd system but I would see if they have a single membrane version instead of dual 50’s.

a tds meter is a must but you don’t necessarily have to have one tied into your system, a simple hand held version will work fine to test your water..

This should help with whats in your water. Found an article that there was coal ash run off making its way to the Sydney water supply, but no idea of its voracity, or the areas effected.

There are countless ways to set up an rodi unit. Some have a pre filter and 2 carbon blocks ro membrane and than di resin. Or prefilter, carbon filter, ro membrane, two di resins (separate anion beads and cation need di resin beads)

Hey I found something that may be helpful. Can this be an option for you? (Its a direct quote from another forum )

[Try PSI Water Filters.(https://www.psifilters.com.au/

A lot of Aus reefers use them, they are a good Business, good service and advice and special prices for members of MASA]

I personally think an dual inline tds meter is a must. They're fairly cheap. I run 1 sensor before my membrane and 1 after my DI. It lets me know when I need to replace my filters.

Yeah! I was reading up on it and decided with this
Thank you all for the replies, much appreciated. I hope all your reefing goals for 2020 end up a major success!

The stages is the amount of filters it has. 4 stage has four filters. 5 stage has five filters. I would stick to one that is designed to purify water in your area. If your water is pretty clean, you could use a 4 stage. If the water is bad, you should use a 5-6 stage. I live in Florida where the water is heavily tainted. I run a six stage aqua fx system with two carbon filters.
