Help with Elos Mg test.

Ok, so I've never tested for Mg levels before today. I got an Elos test kit. Did as instructed, ALOT of steps BTW, and the first part of the test came out as the instructions said they would. (orange to green part A, 5 drops of part B then the .15 of part C) the problem is that after I add part C it says that the color should be Pink/Violet well its kinda black/brownish. So I continue on to Part D it says it will change to light blue. Well I don't get a light blue only a greenish/brown color. I'm I doing something wrong? Is there a better test kit? I'm at a loss.

Did you empty out the vial after adding all the part A? Start with new tank water then add part b and c.

ditto...you need to empty and rinse the vial b/t the first and second part of the test.

i dont understand what you could be doing wrong...as far as the test kit goes thats what i use and i really like Elos.... i think they are pretty accurate and easy to use.... maybe you didnt dump the last test water out beore doing the second part of the test

No I didn't rinse between Part A and B! I didn't even Read that on there. So I dump part A then rinse and add 3ml tank water again and then start on B-D?

Got it! Mg is 1250. I wish the directions said to rinse between A and B! Thanks again for your help!

its very confusing, i just got one, i almost made the same mistake, i read the direction like 10 times before I realized how to do it, made me feel stupid. Now that I know how to do it I really like it.

I second that!! I still don't see where it says to dump it out b/w A and B! Maybe lost in translation somewhere. But now that I know what to do I think all my test kits from now on will be elos. I really like them.:bigsmile:
